Obituary

Christopher Michael Whalen, 38, of Charlotte, Michigan, passed away at home on November 1, 2025. Born on December 8, 1986, in Alpena, Michigan, Christopher lived a life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family and friends, and a passion for the outdoors.

Christopher graduated from Williamston High School and went on to earn his Commercial Driver's License. His early working years included time at an oil change shop, but it was through the guidance of his father and sister that he found his true calling—truck driving. With determination and pride in his craft, he became a skilled semi-truck driver and helped launch a car hauling business. Known by many as the best car hauler around, Christopher recently expanded his credentials by earning a hazardous materials endorsement. His commitment to excellence and hard work left a
lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.

Beyond his professional achievements, Christopher had a vibrant personal life filled with hobbies that reflected his adventurous spirit and creative soul. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, trail riding through Michigan's seasons, and spending time outdoors. He also had a talent for working on cars and creating welding art—expressions of both skill and imagination. Bonfires with loved ones were among his favorite pastimes.

Christopher cherished the people in his life deeply. He is survived by: his beloved wife, Nicole Whalen; his mother, Barbara Szabo (Bowman); sisters, Jean Whalen (JR), Maria Skinner, and Patricia Gries; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He held close the memory of those who passed before him: his father, Earl Whalen; grandparents, Jean Whalen, Clarence Bowman, and Elena Bowman; and sister-in-law, Meghan Jennings.

Those who knew Christopher remember him as friendly, prideful in the best sense, honest, caring, and always willing to lend a hand. He loved fiercely—his wife, family, friends, and even his cat held special places in his heart. His big heart touched many lives.

May Christopher's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived with purpose, loyalty, and love.
