Huff
April 19, 1953 – January 21, 2021
Cheryl A. Huff, a lifelong resident of Lansing, passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2021 due to non-COVID related causes. Born in Lansing, Michigan on April 19, 1953, Cheryl was the third of five daughters. She attended Lansing Eastern High School, graduating in 1971, and went on to Lansing Community College where she earned an associate's degree in Accounting. Above all, she loved and lived for her family, including her husband Terry Huff, whom she married on June 29, 1974, and celebrated over 46 years of marriage. A lifelong Democrat who was firm in her beliefs, Cheryl worked various jobs over the years, eventually retiring from the State of Michigan in 2018. She always gave 100% in everything in which she was involved and was a devoted and well-liked co-worker.
She loved music, and played the guitar as a hobby. The Beatles were her favorite band, and besides being a devoted fan of John, Paul, George and Ringo, she was a lover of Classic Rock including the J. Geils Band, Santana and the Rolling Stones. Jersey Boys was one of her favorite musicals.
She loved angel food cake and was a wonderful cultivator of plants. She enjoyed cooking and was a consummate hostess of holiday events, particularly Christmas where she made everything festive and beautiful. Most of all, she was a loyal person who loved taking care of others from her husband and children to various nieces and nephews. Cheryl's smile was always broad and her laughter infectious. She lit up any room she walked into.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Douglas and Cecelia Rowe; brother-in-law, John Bullard; and niece, Carla Custer.
She is survived by: her beloved husband, Terry Huff; son, Douglas; daughter, Ashley; sisters, Candi Acker, Marilyn (Kurt) Titus, Donna (Dean) Wolverton and Julie (Jay) Kussmaul; sisters-in-law, Margaret Bullard, Evelyn Maki, Laura Huff Kohn and Pam (Mike) Lutz; brothers-in-law, Jim (Kathy) Huff and Don (Teri) Huff; nieces and nephews, Michelle (Randy) Maidlow, Chris (Stephanie) Acker, Andrew Wolverton, Lauren (Matt Fuglie) Kussmaul, Meredith Kussmaul, Janice Bullard, Patty Bullard, Jessica (Eric) Abbott, Erik (Jennifer) Maki, Todd (Becky) Maki, Patty (Drew) Nelson, Fred Lutz, Mike Lutz, Robin (Dave) Kingsbury, Scott (Jackie) Huff, Jenny (Chris) Rodda, Susan Ordiway, and Jim (Carrie) Huff; and great nieces, Emma Acker, Mia Custer and Harleigh Acker; along with several beloved friends, many of whom were like family to her.
