Obituary

Charlie Mae "Peggy" Fambro was born on Monday October 9, 1944 in Tallahassee, Florida to Samuel Lawrence and Mary Ann "Suge" Lawrence. Both preceded her in death. She was the middle child of three siblings.

Growing up, Peggy was a self-proclaimed tomboy. She fondly recalled playing and competing with the boys and matching or besting them in many physical activities. She attended Leon County schools and graduated from Florida A & M High.

Following High School Peggy began studying Library Sciences at Florida A & M University before beginning her professional career with the State of Florida. There she quickly became noticed as a model employee with exceptional professionalism and the ability to connect with others. As a result, she was quickly promoted.

She was always a proud Floridian and would not hold back in giving you the oral history of the world-renowned Marching 100 (The marching band for Florida A & M University) or its warm weather. Peggy had a deep love for Christ along with a deep-rooted spiritual connection. She was baptized at an early age and joined Testerina P.B. Church where she attended and served faithfully until moving to Lansing, Michigan in 1978 where she then joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist church where she attended and served faithfully for nearly 50 years.

Peggy loved her family, children, grandchildren and friends to the core. On your birthday you could always expect your happy birthday call. Peggy loved and cherished spending time with her friends who would inevitably become like family. It was not unusual for a check in call to turn into a 90-minute call full of laughter. She was also a great cook and an avid baker known for her Red Velvet cake, Sweet Potato pies and butter nut chewie's. She was an avid walker that enjoyed how exercising made her feel. Peggy also had a passion for fashion. She was well known to sales associates across town. She knew how to anticipate when desired merchandise would go on sale and when a price was just too good to pass up.

She leaves to cherish, honor and preserve her legacy: two brothers, Samuel Mizell Lawrence, Jr. of Heidelberg, Germany and Tyrone LaFounte Lawrence (Winifred) of Lansing, MI; three children, Latonya Springer-Scott of Tallahassee, Florida, Troy (Skip) Springer Jr. (Danielle) of Westland, MI and Roy Lee Fambro II; her grandchildren, Tangela Springer, Natasha Rogers and Darryn Springer Woods of Tallahassee, GL, Gavin J. Springer of Westland, MI, Gianna G. Fambro, Ganiya G Fambro and Dominick Fambro of Lansing, MI, Malachi Wood, Nile Wood, Brooklyn Wood of Tallahassee, FL; niece, Monika Martin (Jeff) and her sons Maxwell, Mason and Mattox of Sandy Springs, GA; and a host of the best cousins on the planet.
