Charles Eugene Hawkins went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2023 in Lansing, Michigan.  He was born in West Memphis, Arkansas on December 9, 1939 and later raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He was one of 15 children to Lurria and John Hawkins. He was married to Kathleen Kay Hawkins for 63 years.

Charles is survived by: his three children, Vestina Rochelle Hawkins (Donna Sink), Carmalita Kay Ayers, and LaTanga Joseph.

Charles was a family man. He was always willing to provide a place in his home for his brothers, sisters or grandchildren in need. Charles was unique and always true to who he was. He enjoyed watching MSU and the Lions football team as well as boxing. His all time favorite pastime was watching old westerns. He also loved spending time with his grandkids and eating apple pie.

Charles leaves to  cherish his memories: Willie Mae Rogers, Doll Sanders, David Hawkins, Kenneth (Donna) Hawkins, Alfreida (Reche) Davis, Venita (Don) Howard, Marie Reddic, Dorothy Hawkins and Louis Patrick Hawkins. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Kathleen Kay Hawkins; parents, Lurria and John Wesley Hawkins; sister, Velma Hawkins; brothers, John Hawkins Jr, Fletcher Hawkins, Nathiel Hawkins, and Curtis Hawkins.
