Charles Edward Cain
was born to William and Betty Brown Cain on November 18, 1947 in Canton, Mississippi. Charles graduated from Roger High School and Jackson State University in 1974.
He accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Harvey Chapel M. B. Church and sang in the choir.
Charles moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1975 with his daughter, Chanta Jones and landed a job with James River Paper Company as a lead person. He joined Galilee Baptist Church where he faithfully served as an Usher until he moved to Lansing, Michigan in 2000, at that time Charles united in marriage to Mildred Duke. After arriving in Lansing, he secured a job with the State of Michigan, as a Correction Officer until his retirement. He quickly became a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He served wherever needed in the Laymen Auxiliary, serving the members as he loved to do for the Lord. Along with his passion for serving the Lord, he loved eating out and bowling. He enjoyed entertaining and being around people.
Charles was preceded in death by: his parents, son Charles Hunter; brothers, Leroy, Leonard, Joseph, Levon; and sister, Betty-Jean.
He leaves to cherish his homegoing: his wife, daughter Chanta; brothers, Percy (Bernice), William, Luddie, Rev. Vorneal (Herestine) Lipsey, all of Canton, MS, Hosea Oscar and Willie (Bernice) Oscar of Ridgeland, MS, Billy (Mattie) Oscar of Brandon, MS, Arthur (Patricia) Lipsey of Kansas City, Kansas, Charles Ray Oscar of CA.; sisters, Thelma Archie, Oral Lee Jones, Ruthie Mae Handy, Rosa Lipsey all of Canton, MS, Clara Lewis and Odell Cain all of Chicago, IL. Linda Faye Chambers and Debra (Patrick) Linzer all of Dallas, TX, Dianne Phillip, Carolyn Compton, Brenda (Christal) Cantrell all of Houston, TX.; grandchildren, Charmane, Charlezette, Nalibea and Charles Jr. Hunter; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; special friends, James Grant, Earline Webb, James Tucker and Nell Wilson.
