Catherine "Cathy" Veal-Campbell passed away on November 13, 2014 at the age of 79. She was born on September 10, 1935 in Newport, NC. She graduated from Queen Street High School in 1953 and attended Winston-Salem Teachers College, later earning her Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Cathy moved to Flint, MI in 1957 to begin teaching in the Flint Public School System where she was dedicated to laying a strong educational foundation for first and second grade school children for 33 years. She was a also member of The Only Child Club of Flint, MI and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority of Flint, MI. After many years of battling illness, Cathy moved to Lansing, Mi to be closer to her daughter and resided the last year and a half at The Grandhaven Assisted Living Center. She is survived by her wonderful daughter and devoted son-in-law Vivianne and Anthony Robinson and precious grandson Justin Robinson, all of Holt, MI; sisterly cousin Maroline (Ronald Sr.) Jacobs, New Bern, NC; Cousins William Henry Hargett, PA; Cecilia Bolar, St. Ann, MO; J.C. (Vivian) Stanley, Lake Como, NJ; and Louvetta (Sylvester) Johnson, Beaufort, NC. Special thanks to Caregiver Maxine Walker, Lansing, MI; and the caregivers of The Grandhaven Living Center. A memorial service will take place at 12 noon Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St, Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
