Carrie Edith Moore, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Holsey John and Mattie Lee Whatley, died on December 30, 2021. Carrie transitioned peacefully with family by her side at her daughter's home in Lansing, Michigan.
Carrie had been a resident of Lansing since the early 1950's, coming here from her birthplace of Columbus, Georgia. Carrie was a faithful member of Trinity A.M.E. Church for more than 60 years. Her favorite job was working with the Lansing School District in a daycare center. She also had a God given compassion for patience, to spread love, teach and nurture, as she journeyed through her life.
Carrie is survived by: her children, Shirley Kirby of Queens, New York, Nathaniel Zellner, Alvin Zellner, LaLarie Mariea (Frederick, Jr.) McFadden all of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Anthony Foy, Keisha Kirby, Kevin Kirby, Stacia Renee Zellner, Anthony Rhodes, Darius Lee McFadden, Jasmine Kerri McFadden, and Skiller Hill; great grandchildren, Nia Foy, Cassel Brockett III, Korry Kirby, Jazlyn Mariea McFadden, Camryn Lee McFadden, Gurpreet McFadden Singh and Santana Hill; loving sisters, Mattie Lee Bradley and Mary Alice Clark; sister-in-law, Loney Whatley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Carrie is preceded in death by: her parents, Holsey John and Mattie Lee Whatley; husband, Artee Moore; sisters, Annie Lee Zellner, Martha Flowers, Willie Mae Lamb; brother, Harold Whatley; and infant granddaughter, Tonya Michelle Zellner.
Due to COVID face masks are mandatory at the visitation and funeral.
Although the funeral is a private service, anyone is welcome to join in the precession from the Church to interment at Chapel Hill Cemetery, commencing at noon.
Due to COVID a list has been created for the funeral service, and family members on the list will be admitted first. All others will be admitted on a first come first serve basis, not exceeding capacity. Please do not bring children. A mask is mandatory for all attending the service. If you are displaying COVID symptoms, please do not attend.
