Carol Ann Sutfin went home to be with the Lord, July 29, 2017. Carol who was a life long resident of St. Johns, Michigan passed away peacefully after a courageous eighteen month battle with metastatic breast cancer at Mother Teresa's Hospice House in Lansing, Michigan with her loving twin sister and family at her side.
Carol,66, was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 4, 1950. Carol retired from the State of Michigan after 32 years of service in the Department of Civil Service, as well as the Department of Corrections. She also worked 34 years for Bill Karber at the Ranch Roller Rink in St. Johns.
Her journey in retirement took her to Fisherman's Cove in Tavares, Florida where she embraced many new passions. She lived with and cared for her mother and they loved to travel. She visited Hawaii and cruised to multiple Caribbean destinations. Carol loved to socialize and golf. She was the organizer and manager of Fisherman's Cove golf club. She was her park communities bingo caller and avid eucher club organizer for many years. She loved shuffleboard and embraced fun living as a way of retirement life. Carol was a Nascar fan of the first order, and never turned down a fun loving wager on her weekly driver picks. She loved watching the Tigers play baseball, and MSU football.
Carol made many close friendships, some of whom became loving and devoted caregivers during her cancer treatment. Carol was a positive thinking, life embracing kind of gal and had no trouble speaking her mind. Carol never married.
Carol was one of five siblings. Her twin sister Cheryl was her lifelong friend and devoted caregiver during her medical journey. Along with her dear twin sister Cheryl Coleman, she is survived by her sister Edna (Dennis) Upton, brothers Lou Sutfin, and John (Glenda) Sutfin. Her nieces KC (Terry) Gimmey and Kari (David) Teed. Nephews, Neil (Lynn) Sutfin, Jeramie Coleman, Jason Coleman, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Let us not forget her loving and devoted kitty, Sabrina, of 11 years.
She was preceded in death by her father Louis Sutfin, her mother LaVerna (Jerry) Sutfin, sister-in-law Robyn Sutfin, and brother-in-law Donald Coleman.
A memorial service to celebrate her life is being planned and will be announced at a future date.
The family of Carol wishes to thank McClaren Home Care's nursing angels as well as Mother Teresa's House, for the compassionate care Carol received during her final days. The family desires donations be made to MOTHER TERESA'S HOUSE in honor of Carol's memory, at Info@ mothertheresahouse.org.
