Obituary

Bobby Lee Harris, also known as Shat, was born on October 31, 1949 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Laymon and Mary (Abram-Phelps) Harris. Bobby was the fourth of nine children. He moved to Buffalo, NY with his family at the age of 5. He was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Clifford and Laymon Jr [Bo]; and three sisters, Pauline Phelps-Jones-Ramsey, Hazel Harris-Pickett, and Brenda Harris-Humphrey.

Bobby completed kindergarten at Niagara Street School in Niagara Falls, and the remainder of his elementary (Schools # 8, 48 & 37) and secondary education (Seneca Vocational H.S.) in Buffalo. An avid photographer, he took photography classes at Erie Community College.

Bobby was drafted and served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1970 on battlefields in Vietnam and Cambodia. He was honorably discharged from the Army and earned a Conspicuous Service Cross from the Governor of New York. He retired from Ryder Logistics, a supplier for General Motors, on December 31, 2022.

Bobby was joined with Jennifer Cadle in holy matrimony in Rochester, NY on December 13, 1975. From this union, the joys of their life were born: Shatiesha, Shayla and ShaTon Harris. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved and devoted wife of 48 years, Jennifer; two daughters, Shatiesha Harris of Lansing, MI and Shayla Harris of Brooklyn, NY; one son, ShaTon Harris of Lansing, MI; five grandsons, Arison, Sirr, Asante, Shiloh and Skyler; three granddaughters, Amiya, Ashlyn and Sadie; one great-granddaughter, Summer; two sisters, Julia Harris of Boynton Beach, FL and Drusilla Harris of Buffalo, NY; one brother, Landers (Velma) Phelps of Buffalo, NY; mother-in-law, Loretta Cadle of Chandler, AZ; one brother-in-law, Jeffery (Elizabeth) Cadle of Chandler, AZ; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; five special lifelong devoted friends from Buffalo, NY, John (Linda) Campfield, Yusuf El aka Joseph (Annette) James, Robert (Michelle) Sessum, Melvyn Kerr and Thomas (Betty) Allen.

Funeral Services and burial for Mr. Harris will be held in Buffalo, New York.
