Age 66, was born on June 26, 1946 in Greenville, MS to Edna Carr and James McCullum. He departed this life on August 28, 2012. Mr. DeShazer was a Vietnam veteran and served in the US Army. He retired from General Motors after 37 years of service and was faithful to God and New Hope COGIC for 36 years. He was preceded in death by: his brother, Henry Carr, Jr.; sister, Brenda Nichols; step-father, Henry Carr, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory: his long and devoted wife of 44 years Stella Lee DeShazer; children, Dequincy DeShazer, DeWayne (Tracy) DeShazer, Gordon (Lisa) DeShazer, Rhoda (Jeff) Boles, Anthony DeShazer, and LaTanya DeShazer. 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; parents, Edna Carr and James McCullum; 4 siblings and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. Friends may visit Mr. DeShazer on Thursday, September 6, from 1 - 6 pm at Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 7, at 11:00 am at New Hope COGIC, 6025 S. Waverly Rd. with Pastor James Martin officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral.
