Billy Ray
Sorrells, Jr.
April 27, 1956 – January 19, 2023
Billy Ray "Terrance" Sorrells, Jr
. was born on April 27, 1965 in Lansing, Michigan to Bill and Louella Sorrells. He was the second child of three siblings. Billy's passing on January 19, 2023 was unexpected to us, but not to God. He gained his wings and is now whole, healthy, and free. He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Albert & Lillie Brown and Mr. & Mrs. Ephraim Sorrells; nephew, Marcus Jones; uncle, Arthur Brown; and special cousins, Lillian Michelle Boles, Kenneth Powell, and Leon Hollis.
Billy attended and graduated from J.W. Sexton High School and later attended Lansing Community College. He joined the army reserves where he completed his basic training. A hard worker, Billy found his niche as a truck driver and was currently working with AWA Express Trucking Company. He was so proud of his truck driving career that he would often say, "I would drive for free."
Billy joined Paradise Baptist at a young age and would be at church regularly with his mother. As he became older, he strayed away, but he later recommitted his life to the Lord and joined Reachout Christian Center Church where he remained dedicated and faithful; regularly attending Sunday School, driving the bus, and working on the Security ministry. Billy made a promise to the Lord, and he kept that promise, not perfect, but faithful.
Billy loved his family and enjoyed being with them. He was always checking on his Mom, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, and friends. He loved spending time, playing with younger kids, and laughing about childhood moments.
Billy leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Louella (Andrew) Rivers; father, Bill Sorrells Jr.; sisters, Angela Sorrells Jones, Shantela Sorrells, Camille Rivers, Renee Rivers, Carolyn Bicy, Monique Rivers, and Tisa Rivers; brothers, Donnie (Erica) Sorrells, Michael Sorrells, Keith Sorrells and Raphall Sorrells; a large family, with several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and special friend, Shalisa Kittle and her daughter, La'Nayjah White.
