Riley Funeral Home Visitation: 3/12/12 1-8 pm Family period 6-8pm Funeral: 3/13/12 11 am Union Missionary Baptist Church Bettye Lou Lucy Watson was born Thursday, March 17, 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee to Solomon and Minnie Lee Bonds, Sr. Bettye attended Manassas High School in Memphis, Tennessee. Bettye led the charge north to Michigan in 1956. The rest of her family missed her so much, they moved to Michigan, to be with her again, in that same year. Bettye loved to lead a sporting life and during one occasion, she met her soul mate Rosie in 1960. Bettye and Roosevelt were blessed with four beautiful children, Peaches, Skip, Ann and Chad. Bettye was a great cook and could whip up a delicious homemade chocolate cake, with ease. Her house was always filled with love and good times. All who came left feeling happy and loved. Bettye had a special way of making you feel unique and profusely loved, at all times. Bettye worked as a key punch operator for the State of Michigan. Bettye was baptized at an early age at New Salem Baptist Church in Memphis, under the leadership of Reverend Blake. She rededicated her life to Christ, once she relocated to Michigan and joined Union Missionary Baptist Church. Bettye was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Roosevelt Watson, Jr.; parents, Solomon and Minnie Lee Bonds, Sr.; and brothers, Solomon Bonds, Jr. and Jessie Lee Bonds, Sr. Mrs. Bettye Lou Lucy Watson went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at 10:37 pm. She leaves to cherish her memory: her two daughters, Debra Peaches Davis and Patricia Myles; two sons, Jessie Skip and Cynthia Myles and Chad Watson; ten grandchildren, Mashanda, Tamar, Charleaka, Latiya, Krystal, Charles, Charleton, Ashle, Michael and Courtney; seven great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Aryn, Raevyn, John Jr., Amaryana, Aaliyah and Asher; siblings, Peggie and Rochelle Price, Jr. and William Earl Bonds; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Bonds, Geneva Hooker, Berniece Ray, Mattie Callahan and John Morris, Mary Ruth Watson, Lucie Watson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
