Obituary

Betty Jean Floyd was born on April 7, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan to Sammie and Viola Gulledge.

In 1976, she attended Lincoln High School. She received her Nursing Assistant Certificate from Ypsilanti Vocation Program. She was employed by Van Buren Convalescence Center as a Nurse's Aide. Betty accepted Christ at an early age and attended Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Sumpter Township, Michigan. At Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, she was a participant in the community Summer Program. She was a loving and caring person who enjoyed helping others, spending time with her family and especially her children. She also enjoyed swimming.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Sammie and Viola; niece, Sandra Mae Lee (Gulledge); uncle, Tony Howard.

Betty went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Tommy Floyd; daughter, Rochelle Floyd; son, Tommy Anthony; grandchildren; brothers, Sammie Lee and Cleveland Gulledge; sister, Vilina Williams; nieces, Felicia, Monica, Priscilla and Tiffany; nephews, Damon Shopshire and Jermaine Shopshire; and a host of special uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Betty Jean Floyd will lie in repose Friday, April 1st, 1-7pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St, Lansing, MI.  Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2nd, 12pm at Riley Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.  Repast will be held at Tony M's, 3420 S Creyts Rd, Lansing, MI.
