Mr. Bernard Johnson Ashe was born on March 31, 1955 to Ms. Priscilla Ashe and Roosevelt Washington, Jr. in Newbern, Alabama, the oldest of three from Priscilla Ashe.
Bernard, better known as Ben, graduated from Sunshine High in 1973. After graduating high school he moved to Lansing, Michigan to work in the automotive industry and later worked as a chef in many restaurants in the greater Lansing area.
Ben was very loved in his community, he loved spending time with family and friends joking around and laughing out loud. He took pride in cooking and preparing his specialty dishes, especially his greens.
He will always be remembered as a sweet and loving person. We will cherish our memories of him forever.
Ben was preceded in death by: his parents, Priscilla Ash and Roosevelt Washington; brother, James Washington; uncles, John Ashe, David Ashe, Tommie Ashe, Fred Ashe, Herman Ashe, William Ashe, Turner Ashe; aunts, Sammie Horton, Rosie Ashe.
Ben leaves to cherish his memory: only son, Ramon (Mary) Tyree Bryant of Lansing; brother, Morris (Cheryl) Ash; sister, Bernice (Frank) Lyles; grandchildren; Kieara Bryant and Tyree Rembert both of Lansing; great-grandchildren, Avionna and Akive Edwards; uncle, Frank (Louise) Ash of Lansing, Rozelle Ashe of Mobile, Alabama; auntie, Lily Ash of Lansing; others siblings from his father's side, the Delois Range, Joe and Felicia Washington, Roosevelt and Mary Reese, Geneva Jones all of Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews cousins and Friends.
