Mrs. Chavous, age 73, was born on February 28, 1940 in New Orleans, LA to Peter and Myrtle Badie, Sr. and passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 after a long illness. She retired from Consumers Energy in 1995 after 25 years of service. Augustine moved to Lansing in 2003, where she joined the New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her death. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Donnell Chavous; son, DairusChavous; her parents; and six of her siblings. Mrs. Chavous is survived by: her children, Danielle Chavous, Dietrich (Hank Tyler) Chavous of Lansing, MI; brother, Peter Badie, Jr. of New Orleans, LA; sister, Celeste (Melvin) Harris of Jackson, MI; three grandchildren, Dante Chavous, Summayah Muhammad and Amira Muhummad; special daughter-in-law, Julia Chavous, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Chavous will lie in repose on Thursday, May 23, 4 " 7 pm with the family receiving friends from 6 " 7 pm at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St., Lansing, MI; phone 517-372-6009.
