Arthur (Art) Odell Sheffey was born July 20, 1933 in Wytheville, Virginia to Glen and Lena Sheffey.  He graduated high school in Wytheville before joining the Air Force where he served and received an Honorable Discharge years later. Upon discharge from the service, Art attended Michigan State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree.  After working various positions, Art found a career with the State Michigan Department of Civil Rights where he worked as a Supervisor until his retirement after 29 ½ years of service.

After Art made the decision to attend Michigan State University and make Michigan his home, he led other family members (including his parents) to migrate to Michigan as well.  While at Michigan State University, Art met and married his lovely wife Dorothy Adams.  Art was known as a devoted husband and a supportive and loving father.

Art accepted Christ one afternoon while watching Bill Winston Ministries. This reassured him that when he passed away, he would go to Heaven and his family would be taken care of. Now he is in the loving arms of Jesus Christ his savior.

Mr. Sheffey was preceded in death by: his wife, Dorothy; parents, Glen and Lena Sheffey; siblings, Mary Jackson, Helen Robinson Black, William Sheffey and James Rudolph Sheffey.

He is survived by: his children, Sarina (Jeffery) White, Pamela Sheffey, Sharon Sheffey, Cynthia Sheffey, and Melanie Sheffey; one surviving sister, Sally Leggions; and many cousins and friends.
