No Services Arlene Pointer-Boyer extended her wings on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 and ended her 87 years with us. She is now soaring worth our Lord in Heaven. Arlene had a positive spirit and was truly an inspiration to all who knew her during her 16 month battle with lung cancer. She was the second of five children to be born to Charles and Sara Pointer. She received her early education in the Eaton Rapids school system and was a proud graduated of Eaton Rapids High School, Class of 1942. After highschool Arlene attended beauty school and upon completion she worked in Lansing and eventually began a long a successful career as a beautician in Chicago. In 1970 the Boyer family relocated to Eaton Rapids where Arlene provided beauty services from her home and was a Tupperware Manager for several years. In later years she worked as a cashier at the Dollar Store. Arlene was an active resident of Friendship Manor and was responsible for organizing and working with the Food Movers organization. Arlenes creative and artistic side was displayed in doll making, her work with ceramics, and her expertise in crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed playing cards, bingo and going to the casinos. She was preceded in death by: her husband, William Bill ; parents; sister, Joyce Reaves; brothers, Kenneth Jack and Charles Wayne Pointer. She leaves a son, Kevin, sister, Janet (CB) Mollay of Lansing, step-sister, Betty York of Battle Creek, special friend Kerry Meyer of Lansing, 4 nieces, 3 nephews, grand nieces and nephews, many cousins, friends, and residents of Friendship Manor. The family wishes to thank Dr. Hrinczenko and Dr. Iyer and staff at Breslin Cancer Center, Petra Waters of McLaren Hospice; Karen, Debbie, Trish and the volunteers at the Mother Teresa House for the wonderful and compassionate care Arlene received.
