Obituary

Anna Atwood-Stuckey was born September 12, 1905 in Whiteville, Tennessee, one of ten siblings, to Charlie and Mattie Lee Rhodes. Anna married Reverend Carnes Atwood in 1938, and raised six sons and four daughters. Anna and Reverend Atwood moved to Lansing, Michigan from Tennessee in the early 1960s, and joined Galilee Baptist Church. Anna was a woman of profound faith and true Christian spirit. Anna loved to spend precious time with her family, friends, and church family. She loved to keep up with the latest fashion trends, travel, and collect hats. She was preceded in death by: her two husbands; daughters, Dorothy, Verlene, and Juanita; sons, Dave and A.J.; parents; and eight siblings. Anna went home to be with the Lord on October 19, 2012. Anna leaves to cherish her precious memory: her children, Coleman (Carol), J.D. (Trudy), and John (Alberta), all of Lansing, Carnes (Margie), and Bettie Hobson, both of Tennessee; 39 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Norman Rhodes of Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her church family. Friends may visit Mrs. Stuckey on Wednesday, October 24, 12-9 pm at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Thursday, October 25 at 1:00 pm at Galilee Baptist Church, 2511 Reo Road, Lansing. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral.
