Anna
Johnson
January 27, 1924 – September 21, 2019
Mother Anna Catherine Johnson was born January 27, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ethel and Edward Warfield. She was the youngest of ten children and was educated in the Indianapolis School System. Mother accepted Christ at an early age.
Mother met and married Norman Lee Johnson on January 30, 1954 and they were blessed with seven children, who she raised to love and honor God. Her positive spiritual influence was felt by all, not just by her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren or her great-great grandchildren but also by the children of the neighborhood. They all called her "Granny." Family and friends all enjoyed her spiritual support but also her gift in creating beautiful ceramics, which decorate their homes today.
Mother was employed by Chrysler Motor Co. in Indiana. After the family relocated to Lansing, Michigan in 1962, she worked and retired from Oldsmobile General Motors.
Mother's real work, however, was in the House of God. After becoming a member of St. Matthews Church under the pastorate of Mother Rosa Porter, Mother was ordained as a Deaconess. She later was called to New Jerusalem Church under the pastorate of Elder Charles Bicy. As a faithful woman of God there was no job too big or too small for Mother. She would help clean the church, was a Church Usher, would babysit and as a Church Mother she helped serve Communion. She was a woman of great humility. She ministered and encouraged in nursing homes and participated in Lansing's street ministry, where hundreds of forgotten souls were saved (remember Butler and Kalamazoo Streets). Mother was later called to Immanuel's Temple Systems of Church under the pastorate of Prophet Phillip Owens and Elect Lady Patricia A. Owens. She participated in all church activities and faithfully helped serve Communion as a Church Mother for almost 30 years. She was faithful and would press her way to the House of God no matter what physical ailment she suffered. She was a great woman of God.
On September 21, 2019, Mother received her last and highest call, her call to Glory.
Mother was preceded in death by: her parents; and her three children, Thomas, Michael and Harold.
Mother leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy: four daughters, Patricia Jackson of Pennsylvania, Linda Johnson, Norma Porter and Debra Cain all of Lansing, MI.; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; special granddaughter, Shanda Johnson; special grandsons, Michael Hopkins, Dionel Johnson, and Ishmael Cain; special nieces, Joan Nicholson and Marclyn Grider; daughter-in-law, Brenda Williams; God daughter, Ruth Wahl; special friends, Mary Sue Shaw, Mamie Guyton, Min. Fannie Sams and Min. Iona Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
