Alvin Walker,
Sr.
January 12, 1968 – February 21, 2020
Alvin Darnell Walker, Sr. was born on January 12, 1968 to Ruthie Jetton and Hershel Walker in Flint, MI. Alvin was the only child born to Ruthie.
Alvin demonstrated a love of sports at an early age. He especially loved the game of football, including playing at J.W. Sexton High School, better known as JDubbs! In later years, Alvin and his Kangol's (he never left home without one) could be found on the sidelines cheering on his sons, Brandon, Alvin, Jr. (Squeeze) and Jerrett, as they played football for the Southside Panthers and then JDubbs and also, his son Evan, as he played for the Cowboys, Kappa and Waverly Middle School; and lastly he loved cheering for his grandsons Zion & Zay as they played for various teams while living in Lansing. He was also a big supporter of his baby girl, Tamia, playing volleyball and a thrower (shotput & disc) on the track team. He didn't leave out his granddaughters - he could be found having tea party with Ava and Tia or at the grocery store with Ava, wearing her Belle ballgown.
Alvin had an exceptional gift in the kitchen. Whether it was something he was whipping up from scratch or being king of his grill; he never disappointed those waiting mouths he was feeding-THAT MAN COULD COOK! Alvin used these skills for many years at the Harrison Road House, until he became the owner of Need It Clean, a commercial cleaning company, where he took pride in cleaning the Harrison Roadhouse, Beggar's Banquet, Nuthouse Sports Grill, and Antioch Church until his death.
After living another normal day and saying goodnight to Melissa & Evan, Alvin made his transition on Friday, February 21, 2020. He was preceded in death by: his mother Ruthie, and several close cousins and friends from the westside, including Tony Kelly.
Alvin leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and adoring wife, Melissa; children, Brandon (Angela) Howard of Lansing, MI, Ashley (Walter) Allen of Philadelphia, PA, Sharece Howard of Washington, DC, Alvin (Marcela) Walker, Jr., Jerrett Walker, Tamia Walker and Evan Walker all of Lansing;g randsons, Zion and Zay Allen of Philadelphia and Bryson Howard of Lansing; granddaughters, Ava Howard of Lansing, Z'Mya Allen of Philadelphia, Niya, Jordan and Tia; his father, Hershal (Lynette) Walker of Philadelphia; sisters, Shanelle (Tony) Henry and Zina Crook; mother-in-law, Verlinda Beasley; father-in-law, Leroy (Juanita) McAboy all of Lansing; sisters-in-law, Wanda (Willie) McAboy-Williams of Prattville, AL and Katina (Jawon) McAboy-Baker of Lansing; brother-in-law, Aaron Beasley of Chicago, IL; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, including longtime friend Melvin Wade-all who dearly loved him.
