Alvin Gene Jones was born August 11, 1942 in Moss Point, Mississippi to Barnceal and Thomas Jones. He received his early education in the Moss Point, Mississippi School system. He also attended Lansing Community College and was a United States Marine. Alvin worked as a GM employee for 40 years and retired in 2006. Then started a handyman business. He attended Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Glennon. Our beloved Alvin passed away October 28, 2012, at the age of 70. He will be greatly missed by: his daughter, Jasmine Jones of Tennessee; brother, Thomas (Robin); sisters, Linda Jones Rammey, Brenda Jones Patterson, Ruth Jones Black, and Neta Jones Fitzgerald, all of Mississippi; sister-in-law, Linda Appling of Lansing; uncle, Cullen Dubose; aunt, Helena Dubose of Okemos, Michigan; and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Friends may visit Mr. Jones Thursday, November 1, 3-6 pm at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, 11 am at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph Street, Lansing. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to service.
