Alice Marie Fountain was born on June 23, 1938 in Villa Ridge, Illinois to Austin and Priscilla Robinson. She was one of 16 children. Alice attended Lovejoy Elementary School in Villa Ridge and Douglas High School in Mounds, Illinois. She was united in marriage to the late Henry Lewis Fountain in Mound City. She was blessed with a son, Jesse, and six girls, Bernadette, Dorothy, Yvette, Brenda, Mary Louise, and Dawn Lynette. Alice served as a food technician at several businesses in the Lansing area, including Friendship Daycare Center and Riverview Place, for many years. Alice accepted Christ as her personal savior, at a very young age, at Pryor Memorial Temple, C.O.G.I.C. in Villa Ridge. After moving to Michigan, she joined Union Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Melvin T. Jones. There she served in the Mission Ministry, Kitchen Ministry and Choirs. She was an active member until her death. Alice was preceded in death by: her husband, Henry; daughters, Mary Louise and Yvette; parents, Austin and Priscilla Robinson; and brothers, Frelon, Louis, William, Kenneth, and Odtis. At the age of 74, Alice passed away September 29, 2012, at her residence. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Jesse L. Stuckey; four daughters, Bernadette (Derrick) Walker, Dorothy (St. Mark) Picard, both of Lansing, Brenda Fountain of Nashville, Tennessee, and Dawn Lynette (Eddie) James of Sault St. Marie, Michigan; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Robinson of Olmsted, Illinois, Carl (Carolyn)Robinson of Villa Ridge, Illinois, and Tyler (Stephanie) Banks of Mounds; seven sisters, Barbara Beamon of East St. Louis, Illinois, Brenda Brown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Nora Jones of Decatur, Illinois, Sandra (Johnny) Ballard and Norma Childress, both Joliet, Illinois, Hattie (Alonzo) Adkinson of Villa Ridge, Illinois, and Marcy (Keith) LaGrone of Mounds; two aunts, Liza Mae Robinson and Cammie Robinson, both Jackson Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-daughters, and friends, including three very special friends, Ms. Florence Latham, Ms. Beatrice Powers, and Mr. Marshall. Friends may visit Mrs. Fountain on Thursday, October 4, from 12-9pm at Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 art Union Missionary Baptist Church at 12 pm. Family hour 1 hr prior to service.
